The Last of Us Remastered (PS4) Review

Image
The Last of Us Remastered (PS4) 9/10 Hello everybody. I’m back with another review. Today, I’ll be talking about the critically acclaimed video game The Last of Us. Originally released for the PS3, The Last of Us Remastered came out on June 29, 2014 for the PS4. The game was developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. I have played the original version around the time it was first released on the PS3 and I loved it. Back when I first played the game, I didn’t really understand why everyone was saying “oh the game is a masterpiece” and all that. I enjoyed the game, but I never put it on that pedestal. Revisiting it now, I can totally see why people put it in such a category. Well, let's discuss it. The year is 2013. On the night of Joel’s birthday, an outbreak of cordyceps is unleashed on mankind. Cordyceps are parasitic fungi that attack and take over plants and certain insects. Normally, these cordyceps don’t affect humans, but they’ve mutated. Joel lo...

Re:Zero - The Frozen Bond OVA [SUB] (2019) Review

Re:Zero - The Frozen Bond OVA [SUB] (2019) 8/10 Hello everyone. I’m going to make this review short so here we go. This is the second OVA for Re:Zero: Starting Life in Another World - The Frozen Bond. (the first OVA was Memories of Snow, which was just a snow day OVA taking place before the stuff with the White Whale). The Frozen Bond was released on November 8, 2019, with this being a prequel to the events of the main story with Subaru. The Frozen Bond is a little over an hour long with this basically being an origin and background story for Emilia and how she met Puck and the prejudice she had to overcome. This is a very heartfelt backstory for Emilia and makes you feel for her more than what the first season already did. I do appreciate this OVA and how it builds up Emilia to be a much more capable person. You see her break down and hate herself for what she is and then Puck is there to build her back up. I’ve already liked Puck a lot but this OVA gave me a lot more respect fo...

Re:Zero Season 1 Director's Cut [SUB] (2016) Review

Re:Zero - Starting Life In Another World Season 1 Director’s Cut [SUB] (2020) 10/10 What is up everyone? Today, I’ll be going over the critically acclaimed anime series Re:Zero. I have heard nothing but good things about this show, so I have been meaning to watch it for a while now. I’ll say this right here: this show is a masterpiece. This anime made me feel happiness, excitement, dread, edge-of-my-seat adrenaline. Everything! Re:Zero is another isekai anime, but what makes this so different from shows like Reincarnated as a Slime and Konosuba is its concept. The series first aired on April 4, 2016, but the Director's Cut version was released in early 2020, with the show being produced by White Fox Studio. Because I watched the Director’s Cut version, I’ll be judging it from this version and not the original. Let’s jump right into this. This is the story of Natsuki Subaru, a high school NEET who gets transported to another world while on a convenience store trip. Transported wit...

Hilda Season 3 (2023) Review

Image
Hilda Season 3 (2023) 8/10 Hello and welcome to another review. Today, we’ll be taking another look at the most underrated series ever created. Hilda season 3 aired on December 7, 2023, with all 8 episodes dropping at once. As opposed to the previous seasons, season 3 has less episodes, but the finale is a 70 minute mini-movie that ties up “everything”. I have said it before and I’ll say it again: Hilda is so fucking underrated. It boggles my mind that a show that is this good has zero publicity. The show (and books) have a niche fanbase, but this series is deserving of so much more. Season 3 is a solid continuation of the series, but I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed by the fact that this is supposedly the final season. I pray to God that this isn’t the end as there is so much more that this series can do with the characters and its unique world. Let’s begin. Apparently it’s been a year since the whole “Hilda turning into a troll” situation has been resolved (I feel l...

Hilda and The Mountain King (2021) Review

Hilda and The Mountain King (2021) 8/10 [THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!] Hello everyone and welcome back to Hilda. Hilda and The Mountain King is a Netflix movie that was released on December 30, 2021 with the director being Andy Coyle, who is also the director for the show. This movie picks up right where season 2 ended with Hilda and Baba swapping bodies. Let’s jump right into this. Immediately after the events of season 2, Hilda and Baba have swapped places. Baba is now a baby human while Hilda has turned into a troll. Hilda must adapt to her new lifestyle and find a way to get her body back and get back home to her mom. While she’s doing her thing, her mom is actively trying to find where she is and take care of the young toddler. While Hilda is trying to reverse her situation, she accidentally brings a new threat to Trolberg and must find a way to resolve the situation. This is a great addition to the series. I feel like this movie would’ve been bet...

Hilda Season 2 (2020) Review

Hilda Season 2 (2020) 9/10 Hello everyone and welcome back to another Netflix review. Today I’ll be going over the second season of an absolute hidden gem, Hilda. Hilda season 2 aired on December 14, 2020, with the season clocking in at 13 episodes long. I’ve been putting off this season for a long time as I’ve just been interested in other stuff, but now I felt it was time to dive back into this magnificent world. Let’s begin. Season 2 continues off where the first season ended. Hilda is still the adventurous kid that we all know and love. She’s still a Sparrow Scout and friends with David and Frida and lives with her mom, her pet deerfox Twig, and the tiny elf Alfur. In this season. We are introduced to new characters Erik Ahlberg and his second in command Gerda. Erik is the new head of public safety in Trolberg and immediately starts causing trouble for our characters. We also get some reoccurring characters such as the Librarian who now has a name (Kaisa) as well as Woodman. ...

Hilda Season 1 (2018) Review

Image
Hilda Season 1 (2018) 8.5/10 Hello everybody. Today, I’ll be going over the children’s cartoon Hilda. Based on the graphic novel by Luke Pearson, Hilda is a Netflix original series that was released on September 21, 2018, with only 13 episodes. I love this show. It’s a fantasy adventure, but it feels different compared to other high fantasy series. There’s elves and trolls and other mythical creatures, but they aren’t designed like your typical elf or troll. To me, the best way to describe this show is to take Steven Universe, put it in a more earthy mythological setting, and make it infinitely better, and that’s what we got. The show does have some minor stuff about it that keeps it from true greatness, but for what we got, this is incredible. Let’s discuss. Our story follows main character Hilda, a blue haired little girl that’s no older than maybe 10 years old. She grew up in the wilderness with her mother in a cabin away from everyone. Her only real friend is her pet deer-pup...

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K: Reawakened [SUB] (2019) Review

Image
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K: Reawakened (2019) 7.5/10 Hey guys. This’ll probably be the last review for Saiki K for a while. I’m hoping Netflix continues with Reawakened because it leaves off on a cliffhanger, but whatever. Saiki K: Reawakened is the continuation series that Netflix picked up. The season dropped on December 30, 2019. This season is only 6 episodes long, with each episode having several shorts just like the previous seasons. Just like before, this season was produced by J.C. Staff and Egg Firm. I didn’t really know what to expect from such a short season. Maybe a proper ending that forced Saiki to use his powers again, but idk. I’ll admit, I was kinda iffy on dropping this review in the first place because of just how little there is to cover, but here it is. Let’s begin. So Reawakened starts off like any other episode of the series. It DOES NOT start off right where season 2 ended. The last episode on the other hand does. So for the first 5 episodes, it’s like...

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K Season 2 [SUB] (2018) Review

Image
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K Season 2 [SUB] (2018) 8/10 Hey guys. Today I’ll be going over the second season of Saiki K. This season ran from January 17 - June 27, 2018, with the season clocking in at 24 episodes long. I’ll also be going over “season 3” which is just a 2-part series finale as well which aired on December 28, 2018. So this season spruced up on some of my issues with season 1. There’s an actual plot for certain episodes despite this being a comedy based show, but the ending was unsatisfactory. Let’s begin. So this season takes place one week after the events of season 1 aka the Christmas party. There’s not a whole lot that happens in this season besides the addition of three more characters. There’s Mikoto Aiura, another psychic and honestly my favorite character in the show. She’s a fortune teller that can predict the future with the utmost accuracy. She can also read people’s auras and get to know them just by doing this. Next is Rifuta Imu, a new freshman to P...
